THE polemic rhetoric of opposition TDs regarding property taxes is reminiscent of the Communist agitators in France in the 1960s when mass protests against increase in taxes were called.

The cost in France then, of police supervising protests outweighed the income from increased taxes. Is this what Mr Higgins, Ms Daly et al want? These TDs were elected to contribute to government proceedings — not destroy them.
