The Government must think outside the box

JAMES T KIRK, of the Starship Enterprise, while learning how to become a Starfleet officer, took a test used to check out one’s character.

The test was called the Kobayashi Maru test. The test had a “no-win scenario”.

Kirk took the test three times and failed the first and second time, but the third time he passed.

He did this by original thinking — thinking outside the box — and by reprogramming the test.

My advice to the Government is to try not thinking of the obvious, easy things, but to try thinking beyond the obvious. More tax and cutting services is not original nor will it help in getting the country out of the mess that the previous government got us into. The Government must simply re-programme the problem.

Burn the bondholders, not the Irish citizens.

Make bondholders and other holders of Irish debt take a 67% haircut. Spread out the remaining 33% owed over 100 years and give the Irish economy a chance to recover.

If they would try these or come up with better ideas, you can “beam me up, Scotty”.
