Get ready for the return of Lisbon III

I DON’T see why the Government should express either embarrassment or shock at revelations that the German parliament is examining our budget.

Get ready for the return of Lisbon III

Everyone knows our government no longer run this country despite a pretense of doing so.

There seems to be a culture both among the Government and state agencies of not regarding this as a sovereign state accountable to the electorate when it comes to dealing with “real” countries like the US and Germany.

We were practically bullied into voting not once, but twice, on a treaty (Lisbon) that we were told was absolutely necessary just as it was for the future of the EU. Now it seems to be getting in the way of “Merkozy” and we’ll have to vote on it again.

I feel sorry for the Government who has to present Lisbon III to the electorate.

They’ll have to come up with one hell of a scary trailer to get the result they want this time: “You thought it had gone away, and now it’s back — Lisbon III — and it’s stronger and more deadly than ever before! Lisbon III — directed (this time) by Fine Gael, starring the usual suspects, and coming to a polling booth near you soon.”
