A true statesman

I ADMIRE all the candidates who have canvassed and with such effort in this so-called “Race for the Áras”.

I abhor the people who have vilified them. I wonder if those people belong to the “saints” section of our island of saints and scholars.

I would sincerely hope that our cultural, patriotic scholar, Michael D Higgins is our next President. He epitomises all that is Irish and statesmanlike.
