THE urgent need to reform how we conduct our public affairs has been recognised by anyone committed to the evolving enterprise we call the Republic of Ireland.

We cannot be afraid to vote for reform

That change in how this Republic is run comes dripping so very slowly is one of the reasons political life is at such a low ebb.

Unless it rejuvenates itself the dangerous disconnect between parliament, its functions and citizens will continue apace, ultimately disenfranchising all of us making our democracy more ineffective than it already is.
