Our dangerous roads

IT may only be semantics but for Noel Brett of the RSA to say that Irish roads are the “sixth safest” rather than the “sixth least dangerous” he is encouraging complacency, which he warns against. Roads are extremely dangerous.

Twenty times more so than railways and flying, and they represent by far the greatest danger to which we are exposed. State road safety agencies are PR machines. These issues can only be properly addressed by NGOs.
