A royal welcome

AS a senior citizen with an unquenchable love of my country and my city, I welcome the upcoming visit of Queen Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh to the Republic of Ireland, and specifically to the Peoples Republic of Cork, in the full knowledge of the historic connotation between both countries.

Continuing to ferment past grievances in perpetuity is surely a forlorn prospect that will say more of ourselves and our inability to prosper in a world that has moved on.
