McIlroy deserves our praise and respect

SOME people need a reality check.

Rory McIlroy is 21 years old and he messed up a game of golf.

To listen to the wailing and moaning of golfers and sports commentators, mostly older men, who have never achieved, in their own lives, a fraction of what Rory has in his short life to date, you’d think he had committed some heinous crime.

The pressure of expectation placed on him is ridiculous.

He will have his day in the sun and his experience this weekend will have matured him and make him appreciate his win, when it happens, all the more.

So instead of acting as if he let us down, we should instead congratulate him for his magnificent achievement to have even been in consideration to win the Masters in the first place.
