Wrong impression

I REFER to the article in the Irish Examiner (March 9) on my research into the working lives of priests’ housekeepers.

I am concerned that the heading on the piece would give readers an unbalanced impression of the findings of my research.

While some women were exploited, many others felt fulfilled in their working lives.

They felt respected and valued in their local communities: in the words of one woman ‘I was very happy, it was a lovely life and I thank God every day for the life I’ve had’. It was a privilege for me, in conducting this research, to meet women of such great integrity, good humour, ability and generosity.
