We will do all we can to continue fishing tradition

I WOULD like to clarify the position In reference to your article titled “Salmon fishing ban protesters to contest court charges” (January 14).
We will do all we can to continue fishing tradition

Firstly, those mentioned and I are all licence holders who did not accept the salmon licence buyout, opting instead to retain what is a large and valuable aspect of our heritage and culture and we are opposing the unjust actions of a government which armed with complicated mathematical formulae, blind bureaucracy and under the guise of conservation, has ignored logic and commonsense and proceeded to destroy a tradition which has been in existence in our area for the last thousand years.

Secondly, we realise that we as ordinary people have little chance of prevailing in a legal battle against this government, inept and incompetent as it is, and which with unbridled enthusiasm enforces ill-conceived laws and regulations on its ordinary citizens, while those who have crippled our nation they shield and hold close to their bosom.
