FG strategy limits Kenny’s appearances
It could be argued that rather than encourage direct communication between the putative Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the electorate, Fine Gael appears to have adopted a deliberate strategy of limiting Mr Kenny’s media appearances in attempts to conceal his perceived debating weaknesses ahead of the general election, (FG denies ‘hiding’ Kenny ahead of election — The Irish Examiner, January 3). It seems strange to me that in a bid to maintain a positive public image and influence opinions, emotions, attitudes and actions ahead of what is probably the most vital general election in the history of the state, the public relations team in Fine Gael are keeping their leader out of harm’s way.
The last thing we need is a new government led by a taoiseach who has not got the total support of even his own party colleagues.
