Human fertility - Elemental instincts

THERE are few instincts more elemental than the one to reproduce, yet we have adopted social mores that often impede this fundamental process.

Circumstances can conspire to encourage women to defer motherhood to an unwise degree. That this might have been avoided does not make it any less heartrending.

Couples who want to become parents but cannot sometimes turn to procedures that might overcome natural difficulties but these procedures are emotionally and financially challenging and do not always have the desired result.
