Illegal evictions - Both sides need help

ANYONE dependent on a rogue landlord for accommodation is not in ideal position.

The 1,000 or so tenants illegally evicted last year would concur. In some instances tenants were locked out without their possessions and left in the most difficult circumstances.

Of course there are difficult tenants and landlords have rights too but illegal evictions are unacceptable especially as the State paid €500 million in rent subsidies last year. In an effort to confront this situation both tenants and landlords should have access to a speedy and objective resolution service.
