Storm warnings - Get ready for floods

RECENT history has shown the destructive power of floods, especially unexpected flash floods.

Homeowners and businesses have suffered, some repeatedly, and in many instances they have been unable to secure appropriate insurance even though they are vulnerable to a recurrence.

Flood protection works and repairs have, in some instances, been slower to materialise than is ideal leaving towns, homes and businesses in the firing line.

Because of this the warnings of floods in many areas of the country for tomorrow should be taken very seriously. Met Éireann predicts stormy conditions and widespread heavy rain. Be prepared and remember neighbours, especially older ones, who may need help.
