Nothing racist, freakish or nuts about Tea Party
Typically for an Irish commentator, his attacks on the Tea Party are completely unoriginal and he merely echoes US Democratic party attacks on it.
These include baseless charges of “closet racism” – a charge he uncritically accepts on the basis of no evidence whatsoever. And of course the pro-Democratic media on both sides of the Atlantic will call them “freaks” and “nuts”.
Let’s examine the issues Steven King correctly identifies as their prime concerns. A massive multi-trillion dollar deficit? 10% unemployment? High taxes?
What on earth is racist, freakish or nuts about these issues? Any sane person would be concerned about them and the future of their country, should they not be addressed.
Where on earth was our Tea Party when the FF/PD government blew the boom, spending us into our present poverty? As regards your columnist’s vindictive attack on Christine O’Donnell on the basis of her views on sexuality and on what she might have done as a teenager, this is again standard fare for our media elite because she is, after all, merely a conservative woman to be criticised, demeaned and attacked in a way reserved for no one else.
It echoes the contemptuous treatment meted out to Sarah Palin by the liberal media and is deeply offensive to any sense of justice and fair play.
In conclusion, Mr King says “the Tea Party feeds off the sense on the part of many Americans that they are being condescended to”. They are.
And he states that “voting for a Tea party candidate is a way of giving sections of the liberal elite the middle finger”. It is.
