Cystic fibrosis unit delay is a huge worry

MY wife and I, along with our three children (one with cystic fibrosis), moved to Dublin from Cork seven years ago because of work commitments.

Cystic fibrosis unit delay is a huge worry

The recent publicity surrounding the delay in building the CF treatment facilities in St Vincent’s hospital, which were promised many years ago, is a huge worry for our family.

Four years ago a charity called build4life was formed to raise funds to develop CF facilities in Cork.

How can a charity set up in such a short period of time be working now on a new clinic in Cork with protected beds to start next year when the Government has not yet commenced work at St Vincent’s after all the false dawns over the past 20 years?

The Government could learn a lot from build4life and its direct approach in providing lifesaving facilities in Cork.

If the situation does not change I will have to leave the job I cannot afford to lose and move back to Cork.
