A new superbug - Cost is not the only issue

VERY few people choose to have surgery or dental work readily available in this country undertaken abroad for reasons other than cost.

The stories of great savings are legion and it would be surprising if they were not considering some of the fees sought by Irish professionals. As in so many other instances the work moves to the economy where it can be most cheaply done. In this context Irish professions are not alone, we are all, to a degree, culpable.

Yesterday’s warning about a new superbug resistant to almost all antibiotics emanating from cosmetic surgery services in India, Pakistan or Bangladesh reminds us that cost is not the only consideration in these issues.
