RECENT events, and your issue of July 7 (‘Health cuts: the human cost’) provided a stark reminder of how the economic model pursued in the west affects the most vulnerable of people.

Reduced HSE funding means carers who provide a priceless service to the state now risk abandonment.

Through all of this we have seen taxpayers’ money poured into corrupt banking institutions which, even in recent days, have been accused of not providing accurate information to NAMA. This scenario is being repeated around the world where defenceless people are being thrown aside while the focus is on placating “the market”.
