IN response to your editorial of June 19 dealing with the temporary closure of the Opera House in Cork and the question posed in it – “when did our national theatre – the Abbey – last bring a production to the south?” – the answer is September 2009, when the award-winning play Terminus, by Mark O’Rowe, was presented by the Abbey on the stage of the Everyman Palace Theatre.

Might I also add that the Everyman Palace will be open throughout the summer with shows as diverse as The Cha and Miah Laughter Show, the musical Sweeney Todd and the world premiere production of Penelope by Enda Walsh, produced by Druid.
