THERE is no particular logic to support the contention that TV debates should include only the leaders of the two main parties.

This serves to give them a definite and unjustified electoral advantage over all other parties. However, if a party has some right to have its annual conference televised, why should not the party leader have the right to participate in these televised debates?

There would be perfect logic in extending the right to the leaders of all such parties to debate with each other together.
