Anglo ‘casino’ takes us for suckers

IT seems we have learned nothing in recent months. The suggestion that our bank, Anglo Irish, wants to provide a €700 million bailout for Quinn Insurance is another act of betrayal of our state.

The “plan” is to allow Quinn Group backers off the hook by giving them government-backed bonds in exchange for their exposure to Anglo.

If the people who came up with this idea were playing poker in Vegas, they would be tapped on the shoulder and asked to come to the manager’s office. The casino-owners, out of a sense of charity, would then tell them they were in over their heads and they should go home.
