Public sector protest runs against the tide

I FEEL very strongly that today’s public sector protest should not go ahead in view of the recent flood disasters. As a teacher working in one of the worse affected areas, I would feel wrong protesting about my work conditions in front of people who have just lost homes and businesses and are having to face the reality of rebuilding their livelihoods.

We can go back to work tomorrow, having lost a day’s pay, while many flood victims are returning to a ruined home or business. This from someone who is very thankful for her job and a dry, warm house.
