Safety first at all pools

I AM writing in regards to the article that appeared in your paper on entitled “Parents urged to boycott pools with no lifeguards” (Sept 28).

I was shocked to discover while reading the article that there is no legislation requiring any swimming pool to employ a lifeguard. I

Legislation should be brought in immediately to firstly, make sure lifeguards who are on duty are fully trained and capable of doing their job and secondly make it compulsory for every pool to have a lifeguard on duty at all times.
