Pensioners’ memories are put to the test

AFTER the recent incidents of violence against pensioners, it was interesting to hear an advert from an organisation offering assistance to those who might be afraid in their own homes. The telephone number given was 1850 211 207.

Pensioners’ memories are put to the test

If this had been a commercial or a monetary advert, the number allocated would have been much easier to remember, say, 1850 20 20 20, 1850 50 50 50. Similar “round” numbers would have been easier for a pensioner to remember. I am a pensioner and I had to make a deliberate effort to remember the number. Incidentally, I intend to stop what I am doing at 2pm today in solidarity with pensioners who suffered attacks recently. Not enough is being done to protect those who have given their all to this society over the years.
