Dependence on a powerful neighbour has not been good for Irish farming

YOUR editorial ‘Farming in crisis. Time to shout stop’ (September 14) is mere handwringing.

It identifies neither causes nor solutions to the impending destruction of Irish agriculture.

The causes are simple: an overvalued euro, a policy U-turn by the EU on agriculture and an Irish government which has surrendered all control over farming to Brussels.
