Teams should show more respect for the band and national anthem

I AM very disappointed by the attitude and actions of GAA players during the pre-match parade and playing of the national anthem.

Teams should show more respect for the band and national anthem

There appears to be a lack of support for the band as they parade behind it on the field.

Most appalling is the lack of attention and disrespect by the teams while the national anthem is being played. If you watch GAA games in any bar in Woodlawn, The Bronx, New York – whether Irish or American, drunk or sober – everyone stands to attention and you can hear a pin drop during the playing of the Irish national anthem.

We appreciate the players’ commitment to the game and the enjoyment they bring to us. However, I think the team members should show a little more respect for their country and supporters.
