McCarthy suggestion - An inquiry is justified

ONE of the unnerving aspects of our current difficulties has been the near universal confusion about how we got into this mess or how we can get out of it.

That is why Colm McCarthy’s suggestion yesterday that we should have an Oireachtas inquiry into what went wrong should be supported.

The catastrophe brought about by the comfortable relationships between banking, politics and property development have brought us to the edge of bankruptcy.
