Orwellian echoes in abortion argument

IN her letter (‘It’s time the state faced up to abortion realities’, July 30), Dr Sandra McAvoy backs the provision of legalised abortion in Ireland.

She makes no mention at all of the unborn innocent victims. She refers to the landmark Roe v Wade case in the US (1973).

What is omitted, however, is that the woman on whose behalf the test case was taken is today a true champion of all unborn sisters and brothers.
