Blame game

LET the honest voice of John Banville (May 25) bring us to a sense of our own culpability in any child abuse case and to the recognition that no amount of money is enough to undo what has been done.

All the screams today for money to amend the problem or to salve our consciences are further witness to our failure to act. Every teacher, every doctor, every neighbour, every friend who is witness in some way to child abuse and fails to act is culpable.

We are outraged that we did not use our voice when it was needed and we seek to blame everyone but ourselves.
