England’s other name

IN his letter (February 28), FR Baigel of Bury, Manchester, says “the French term for England — Angleterre — means End of the Earth.

Strange, I had always thought it meant the Land of the Angles, a Germanic tribe that invaded Britain in the 6AD.

Is Mr Baigel quite sure where he is?
