We are a retail furniture company and last February we started a process of reducing staff because of the economic slowdown. Two staff left and we did not replace them.

Last October we put three staff on short time — three days a week from five days. This is equal to a 40% pay cut. The social welfare payments do not make up the balance. We did not want to do this but we were faced with thereality of declining sales.
