Greens accused of playing toxic politics
Far from all being satisfactory, the report raised a number of concerns relating to public health and the marine ecosystem. The findings are that a significant amount of research and investigation work remains to the done. While it is suggested that there is no perceived immediate threat to the local community, the site remains a toxic dump at the heart of Cork harbour without a licence or planning permission.
What is of equal concern though is the manner in which this report was made public. Morning news bulletins carried details of the report which had not yet been released. Senator Dan Boyle was interviewed that same morning and was able to give precise details.
