Answer to health insurance hikes

IN view of their recent price hikes announcement, there is one way to ensure the health insurance hucksters see things from their customers’ viewpoint. Reverse their tactics.

If one million citizens had the courage to threaten to cancel their policies en masse on Easter Monday 2009, the insurers would immediately lower their prices. That would be real patriotism. Our leaders would soon return to the real world to follow us.

Let’s have some active reassurance. We will no longer sell our souls for false promises. We are sick of cute spindoctoring. Nobody has a divine right to privilege in a true republic. Every person is entitled to equality of dignity and respect. There is something rotten when we can’t afford to pay for fundamental human rights. Power to the poor and a happy Christmas to everybody.
