FINANCE Minister Brian Lenihan was correct when he observed (December 3) that many people in this country are living beyond their means, but this may be a case of necessity in a great number of cases.

Has it occurred to the minister that the subsidising of numerous useless politicians is truly beyond our means?

This was an obvious, and deliberate, oversight on Mr Lenihan’s part.
