Reason to hope

I WOULD like to thank UCC for the decision to carry out embryonic stem cell research.

I am a 39-year-old married man. I have three children aged nine, six and four. Two years ago I fell off a roof at work and sustained a serious injury. I am now confined to a wheelchair for life. The change to my life and that of my family is very hard to cope with at times.

If this research could lead to a cure for people with spinal cord injury and for sufferers of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, it would mean my life and that of many others would improve greatly.
