Mother alarmed at loss of school programmes
The primary school may have to cut back on special needs assistants and may not be able to offer the excursions and cultural experiences that were regular until now.
I feel we don’t know the extent of the cutbacks. Families will also have to contribute more at a time when we are earning less because of the 1% Government levy.
More alarmingly, the secondary school my daughter attends feels it may not be able to offer her choice as she continues up through school. She may not have the freedom of choice when it comes to higher or lower course subjects. I find this disturbing.
I myself had my secondary school education during the cash-strapped 1970s.
We certainly had choice. Why, three decades on when there should have been progress, do we seem to be travelling backwards?
