It’s time EU leaders got the Christian message

IN his recent welcome speech in Paris for Pope Benedict, French President Nicholas Sarkozy stressed his country’s Christian roots.

Many Irish voters would appreciate the same change of emphasis if proclaimed by EU leaders, including Mr Sarkozy.

Simply, the deep-rooted Christian heritage of Europe demands due recognition. Better late than never.
