Prophet figures

YOU report that according to Eurostat, Ireland’s population will increase by 50% to 6.75 million by 2060 and the number of those over 65 will increase by 245%.

Prophet figures

The distant future cannot be predicted simply by extrapolating present graphs and trends.

If Eurostat had been around in 1840, it would have predicted that Ireland’s population would have grown from 10 million to 30 million in the following 50 years! These statistics are supposed to enable the Government to plan for the future, but the ship of fools governing the country is incapable of planning five years ahead, let alone 50.
