THE Small Firms Association (SFA) wants the minimum wage reduced to €7.65 an hour presumably to boost its members’ profits.

Small firms’ wage rate call is reprehensible and selfish

The SFA, in fact, is asking the poorest and most vulnerable in our society to lead miserable lives so that its members can have all the comforts to which they have become accustomed. And this at a time of rising prices and increasing inflation.

The employers’ motivation is always to increase profits and turnover, expand the business and thereby increase the value of their assets and become even wealthier.
