Childcare funding system is seriously flawed

THE new subvention system of funding community childcare centres is seriously flawed.

Unless you are a parent in the categories A, B or C, you will now have to pay the full cost of fees.

In effect this could mean almost a 100% increase to more than €200 for parents in category D. The exorbitant cost for these parents may force them to opt out of the system with far-reaching consequences. Fewer will attend the centres and loss of critical mass may jeopardise their future.
