Lisbon reveals extent of democratic deficit

ONLY one EU member state facilitated a vote for the electorate on the EU Reform Treaty.

Why the other states did not do so is entirely their own business — whether they were afraid of their people’s voice or that they only engage in token democracy, ie, thinking that the people should not, could not, or would not vote on it?

The borders, politics and economics of Europe have been moulded by force and greed for millennia, always with great suffering.
