Bush doesn’t defend high standard — he lies

SO Joyce Anderson Gleasure (Letters, June 13) thinks President George W Bush is defending the highest code?

What a joke, and the joke’s on us.

Bush lied us into a war with carefully planned distortions, misinformation as an excuse to ‘liberate’ Iraq, take over their oil and create jobs for Halliburton, all under the direction of vice-president Dick Cheney.

It was a ‘business deal’ that backfired and the horrific casualties continue to rise on all sides.

There is no ‘code’. It’s incumbent on Bush to clean up the chaos, domestic and foreign, that his disastrous decision-making has created. His bullying rhetoric in supporting Israel has only resulted in more states lining up against that brave nation.

In short, we’ve been had and our spineless Congress seems unwilling or too weak to confront what is happening right now. Impeachment would be a good start, but don’t hold your breath.
