Euro 08 helpline for fans

FANS going to the UEFA European Football Championships are urged to put one number into their mobile before travelling — 00 800 67891011.

Euro 08 helpline for fans

It’s a special EU helpline for the five million football fans attending the matches in Austria and Switzerland next month.

And before travelling, they are advised also to download the special leaflet that sets out their rights and gives advice on what to do in case of problems.

The initiative by the EU Consumer Commissioner Meglena Kuneva and UEFA kicks off with the official launch of the website: www.euro2008.com and www.supportersrights.eu.

Fake tickets, delayed flights, falling ill, rip-off shopping, car hire and mobile phone roaming charges — these are some of the problems the helpline expects to deal with during Euro 2008.

UEFA president Michel Platini said: “I am delighted that UEFA and the European Commission have worked together to create this helpline and produce this guide. It will help fans enjoy their stay in Austria and Switzerland.”

The helpline will operate for the whole of June.
