Clinton and Obama in a race against history

I DON’T think it matters in the slightest whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination for the US presidency.

Why? Because history is not on their side. All previous presidents have been white men and there is nothing to suggest some kind of seismic shift among US voters who, if anything, have become more conservative in recent decades. Americans seem to have a certain image of the kind of president they want and neither Obama nor Clinton fits it.
