MUCH comment recently has focused on the indefensible levels of Clostridium Difficile (CDAD) found in patients following treatment at Ennis General Hospital.

We know that between January and June 2007, 46 mainly elderly patients contracted CDAD, and of that number 15 subsequently died with CDAD.

The unnecessary emotional trauma for those patients and their families betrays all the tenets of a modern, caring society.
