Politics before patients

ENTERPRISE, Trade and Employment Minister Micheál Martin’s opposition to a co-located hospital on the grounds of Cork University Hospital would seem to undermine the logic of co-location.

Politics before patients

If this policy is to make sense, private hospitals must be near public hospitals, allowing quick and easy movement of consultants and, where necessary, patients between the facilities.

Ironically, CUH is located approximately 130 yards from Cork’s excellent ring road system and this is an additional reason for locating the private hospital adjacent to it.
