Environment lesson for the next generation

WOULD it not be appropriate in view of climate change that schools adopt environmental awareness as a curricular subject at primary and secondary levels (with points awarded as in other Leaving Cert subjects)?

What could be of more use to children to equip them for the uncertain and potentially hazardous future they are apparently facing as they inherit what their predecessors left them in the form of rapidly altering weather conditions?
