Gilmartin victim of a vilification campaign

I WAS heartened by your coverage (February 2) of a former IBI finance director’s description of Tom Gilmartin as decent and straightforward.

Gilmartin victim of a vilification campaign

As branch manger of the Bank of Ireland in Luton from 1991 to 1997, I had dealings with Mr Gilmartin and found him to be of the highest integrity — a strong family man with Christian virtues.

I’d say telling lies and making unfounded allegations would be anathema to him.

He has been on the receiving end of an orchestrated campaign of vilification by numerous politicians and certain sections of the media all because he has co-operated with the tribunal and told the truth.

I think it was Plato who said “they deem him their worst enemy he who tells them the truth”.
