Media fails to focus on the real tribunals issue

I SEE no point in debating water charges with Ryle Dwyer (January 12). There is logic on both sides of the well.

Media fails to focus on the real tribunals issue

I agree wholeheartedly with him when he castigates the Government for wasting money on daft or extravagant projects. However, he is, after a fashion, being penny-wise and pound foolish. What about the mind-blowing billions being wasted on tribunals? I never find it surprising when the media keeps its claws well away from that mountain of extravagance. As well as lining the pockets of the legal profession, tribunals provide soothing, cooling balm for the chronic itch of journalists.

Money passes from one purse to another — metaphorically speaking — all day, every day. Sometimes it shouldn’t. We have a criminal justice system that deals adequately with murderers and rapists. Why don’t we use it to deal with the real or imaginary transgressions which provide fodder for our tribunals? Explanations in plain language, please.
