Damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t

THE recent coverage of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign highlighted how little we, as a society, have travelled over the last 50 years in our attitude to women in the workplace.

Women are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

When a woman is assertive, articulate, confident and ambitious she is portrayed as cold and hard. When they are emotional and sensitive, it is portrayed as weak and hormonal.
